Civil and environmental engineering is a discipline in charge of planning and designing various social infrastructures, which are the basic welfare of human life, to construction, operation, and maintenance.The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Erica Campus of Hanyang University consists of 9 fields: Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Concrete Engineering (Reinforced Concrete, Concrete Materials), Waste Engineering, and Water Environment Engineering (Water Engineering, Hydraulic Coastal Engineering, Water Quality Engineering). Since its establishment in 1979 as an institution to cultivate human resources for social infrastructure, it has cultivated human resources in the construction field, which was the center of industrial growth in Korea, and has contributed greatly to the technological development of the construction industry. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Erica Campus is making efforts to cultivate outstanding human resources who can continuously adapt to changes in society by presenting a new vision in line with the rapidly changing social and economic environment based on history and tradition. Transportation is an essential element for the economy and welfare of a nation. Its importance increases as a nation becomes more modernized and advanced. The Department of Transportation & Logistics Engineering of Hanyang University seeks to educate students to be global leaders in the transportation and logistics field by conducting comprehensive and scientific analyses of transportation and logistics issues.Transportation and Logistics Engineering focuses on the operation, planning, design, safety, pavement, transportation management, and logistics systems involving all the movement of passengers and freight via highway, rail, port, short & deep sea.Well-qualified and motivated students are required to have engineering backgrounds in modeling, system analysis, planning, and use of state of the art computational methods. Graduates educated by our distinguished faculty members will become capable of devising effective solutions to transportation and logistics problems. Career opportunities in transportation and logistics engineering are rich and diverse. Our goal is to train leading engineers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering through convergence of advanced science technologies and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Applications of ICT are vastly growing in various areas, such as safety, security, transportation, medical, education, defense, manufacturing, and smartphones/cars, to name a few. Students are expected to gain necessary knowledge required for Electronic Engineering (Semiconductor, Circuit Design, System on Chip), Communication Engineering (IT, Multimedia Signal Processing and System Engineering (Electro-electric HW/SW, Computer HW/SW, Electric Energy) by participating in research oriented projects. Hanyang ranked the 2nd best in the evaluation of the Korean Council for University Education in 2000, and has been recognized by the Creative Korea (CK) in 2014 which is responsible for supporting training and support programs, such as textbook development, scholarships, advanced lecture rooms/laboratories, collaboration with industry, student club activation, and tutors (SEED teaching assistants).

Department prior to unification exhibited the best education and research capability in Korea. The Department of Materials Engineering received the top prize for industrial university evaluation 2012 in the fields of materials and steel. Moreover, Department of Chemical Engineering was ranked 6th at Joongang Daily for university evaluation in 2013. The overall aim for our unification of the Department of Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering is to educate students with ingenuity in a convergent fields of materials science and chemical engineering. Our Department strives to maintain a balanced commitment between teaching and research; many faculty members have been honored by either the university, or national organizations for their outstanding teaching and research. Our undergraduate students benefit from a nationally accredited curriculum that carefully balances theory and application in a unified course curriculum. The unified Materials/Chemical engineering program provides a progressive experience, ranging from the fundamentals to the practice of engineering. We also encourage undergraduate students to participate in a variety of extra-curricular research activities. Students benefit not only from their daily contact with the faculty members, but also from their interaction with other students, to deal with related problems from a different perspective. This approach assists in providing breadth as well as depth to students’ graduate experience, and helps to prepare them for the interactive research and problem solving in industry, government laboratories, and institutes.
Mechanical Engineering is concerned with the engineering aspects of design and development, thermo fluids analysis, machine design, manufacturing, automatic control, and the science of machine application. The broad areas to which mechanical engineers contribute are power generation, energy conversion, manufacturing, robotics, automated manufacturing systems, and other applications in the field of engineering. Mechanical engineers who have graduated from the department of mechanical engineering of Hanyang University have made great contributions to the advanced industrial society.The mechanical engineering department has been supported by Brain Korea 21 (BK 21) program since 1999, through the first and second phases. The department ranked second among the mechanical engineering programs in Korea by the Korean Council of University Education in its 2004 Academic Evaluation Certification.
Industrial management engineering (industrial engineering) traditionally deals with the analysis, design, resource management and information management of operating systems. The purpose of the Major in Industrial Management Engineering is to implement integration for optimal performance of humans, machines, and resources in the operating system. Therefore, the Industrial Management Engineering degree focuses on how systems and system components can fit together.Operations Research (OR), Manufacturing Engineering, and Ergonomics provide the basic tools to perform these analyzes and integrations.The Industrial Management Engineering degree will lead the way to use the finite resources on the planet as efficiently as possible. Also, industrial management engineering must understand not only technology but also people. Bionano Engineering is a rapidly evolving field of research at the crossroads of biotechnology and nanotechnology, which are two interdisciplinary areas that needs combination of advances in engineering and science. Engineering and science of the 21st century cross an existing field of study and grow explosively around the advanced countries. The Department of Bionano Engineering was established strategically by Hanyang University in 2010 to make valuable contributions to the advanced academic and industrial society. The educational aim of the department lies in the nurturing of specialized global leaders with the knowledge of the latest technologies and theories. In addition, the excellence of the department has been recognized widely by execution of national mega-projects(Micro Biochip Center, Brain Korea 21, Engineering Research Center, LINC and Brain Korea 21 Plus etc.).
Robotics is the field of study that deals with robot system that can perceive the external environment, make decisions about it and then perform intelligent actions autonomously in ways that are similar to humans. Robotics is considered as one of the frontier technologies that can lead the national industrial development in the future just as the automotive industry and the semiconductor industry did before. Hanyang University ERICA Campus maintains high reputation in the field of robotics through many years of performing numerous government and industry projects and research activities. Having this background, Robotics department was found in 2013 with the goal of providing the best college level robotics education and becoming the top-level research robotics institution. Robotics department is one of the Rainbow Department in ERICA campus, offering 4 year scholarship for the students.Robotics is an interdisciplinary field of study, requiring knowledge from mechanical engineering, electric/electronic engineering and computer science. Reflecting these requirements, the curriculum of the Robotics department includes the topics from these domains as well as basic mathematics and science subjects, and strikes a balance between theory and experiment. Outside the class, the department also supports the departmental robotics club HY-MEC, giving students the chance of practical experience in robotics. The ERICA campus hosts the robotics group of KITECH and Gyeonggi Technopark, offering students with the up-to-date robotics research trends through many seminars and internship opportunities.The Robotics department is committed to training its students so that they become the world-class robotics researchers & educators, industrial robotic engineers and government policy makers on national industry.
