중국학 中国学

중국은 최강대국 미국과 어깨를 나란히 하는 G2 국가이다. 이제 중국어는 더 이상 제2외국어가 아니다. 중국은 앞으로 매년 30-40개의 도시가 건설되어, 10년 안에 분당 크기만한 도시 300-400여개가 생겨나는 도시화가 진행될 것이다. 중국 시장은 누구나 갈 수 있는 곳이지만 누구나 성공할 수 있는 곳은 아니다.언어부터 시작해서 절대 시간을 투자하여 중국의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화와 시장에 대한 공력을 미리 쌓아나가야 한다. 조선 시대 율곡 이이는 일본의 급부상에 대비하여 10만 양병설을 주장했다. 지금 중국의 나라 크기와 인구까지 감안한다면 우리는 100만 이상의 중국 전문가가 필요한 상황이다. 우리는 조금 더 일찍 산업화에 성공한 덕분에 수교(1992) 이후 역사상 최고라고 할 수 있을 만큼 중국에 기를 펴고 살고 있다. 앞으로도 중국과 대등하게 발전할지 아니면 미국 보다 더 강해질지도 모를 이웃에 억눌려 살지는 오로지 우리가 중국을 어떻게 이해하고 개척하느냐에 달려 있다.작지만 강한 중견 국가로서 그 지위를 유지하고 블랙홀 같은 중국에 하릴없이 빠져 들지 않기 위해서 우리는 중국을 철저히 분석하고 연구하여야 할 것이다. 이와 같은 문제의식과 사명감에 입각하여 한양대 ERICA‘중국학과’는 언어와 문학으로만 구성된 한국의 대다수 ‘중국언어문학과’와는 달리 언어 외에도 사상, 역사, 문화, 정치, 경제, 사회, 통상과 같은 중국학의 모든 영역을 포괄하는 실용적인 교과과정을 통하여 전문지식을 갖춘 중국 전문가 양성을 목표로 다양하고 치밀한 교육 훈련체계를 구축하고 강도 높은 교육을 실시하고 있다.실용 중국어 능력을 기반으로 중국에 대한 체계적이고 종합적인 이해를 확보한 학생들은 재학 중 적어도 1학기의 교환학생을 중국 대학에서 이수하게 된다. 현지 적응을 마친 학생들은 중국인의 사고방식과 문화와 시장에 대한 나름의 이해와 판단을 기반으로 진화하면서 대 중국 경영의 첨병으로 활약하게 될 것이다.미국 유학을 그렇게 많이들 갔다 왔어도 진짜 미국 전문가를 찾기는 어렵다는 속설이 중국의 경우에도 반복되지 않도록 하는 것이 우리 모두의 책임이라는 것을 우리는 분명히 인식하고 있다.
