Korean Language & Literature

The Department of Korean Language and Literature can adapt to each field of the humanities and social sciences by precisely learning and teaching the reality of the Korean language, which is the basis of Korean culture, and the universality and specificity of Korean literature through its artistic sublimation through lectures and field trips. We cultivate competent liberal arts professionals and excellent experts in Korean studies. In particular, this department focuses on inheriting and developing the achievements and spirits of ancestors who proved that words and writings over a long history of glory and suffering are the cradle of the existence of the nation and the final bastion of the national spirit. It teaches and studies what makes it possible to establish'Korean Literature within' and'Korean Literature within World Literature'.

The Department of Korean Language and Literature is the name of the Department of Korean Language and Literature that was newly changed in 2008 to meet the demands of the times. The purpose is to reinforce individual creativity and subjectivity beyond the modern national education ideology of the existing Korean Language and Literature Department, and to expand the Korean language and Korean literature to a global level beyond the national level. To this end, ERICA Campus has already changed the name of the College of Liberal Arts to the College of International Culture, and has devised a plan to create synergy effects for each major and has been doing it practically. Accordingly, all of our members have come to advocate a new academic language, Korean literature, and culture suitable for the global era.

Based on this direction, Hanyang University's Department of Korean Language and Literature, ERICA Campus, offers subjects related to Korean language education, literature and culture-related creative practice, literature and cultural principles, and expands the scope of study beyond the international sense and literature of students I want to widen it.

The Department of Korean Language and Literature is based on research and education on the reality of Korean language, which is the basis of our culture, and literature created through artistic sublimation. In particular, it can be said that the 21st century, which is defined as the era of informatization and cultural wars, is led by people who are rich in imagination and creativity rather than those who simply memorize knowledge. These are, among other things, the most basic disciplines that enable students to develop and expand their imagination and creativity. Therefore, Korean linguistics and literature will stand out as a study that meets the needs of the new era of the 21st century.
